if you can’t wait for the feature, you can try something a little more hacky

you can do the same sort of thing for the variable dropdowns:
please note: your mileage may vary, this is a hack, class names can change at any stage etc.
another option to try would be to use the variable panel, and put the variable panels where you need them, even if they are repeated:
