The current grafana version is: 6.4.5 on RHEL7
I want to upgrade to version 9 by rpm package
Do I have to upgrade from version 6 to next major version or it’s possible to go from version 6 to version 9 in one step?

Old versions such as 6.x are not longer supported. However, you should be able to update straight to v.9.
Before proceeding, a good place to start would be to check the release notes of the version you want to upgrade.
In addition, and in order to prevent data loss, you may want to back up your data before proceeding with the upgrade.
As an alternative, you could test what the upgrade will do in a separate virtual machine, so you don’t risk data loss.
