Region annotation with query

I was investigating query annotations (postgres in my case):
And I can implement simple annotation using query below. But seems I cannot create region annotation.

SELECT
min(event_timestamp_utc) as time,
'Cycle ’ || cycle_id::text || ’ start’as text,
‘cycle_id=’ || cycle_id::text as tags
FROM
annotation_values_test
where cycle_id is not null
group by cycle_id::text

using API I can create region annotation

{
“time”: 1548599400000,
“isRegion”:true,
“timeEnd”:1548649800000,
“tags”:[“cycle1”],
“text”:“start of cycle 1”
}

Isn’t it a good idea to have such possibility to do it with query not only API:
Query can look like :

SELECT
min(event_timestamp_utc) as time,
max(event_timestamp_utc) as timeEnd,
true as isRegion,
'Cycle ’ || cycle_id::text as text,
‘cycle_id=’ || cycle_id::text as tags
FROM
annotation_values_test
where cycle_id is not null
group by cycle_id::text

or hard coded example:

SELECT
to_timestamp(‘2019-01-27 08:30:00’, ‘yyyy-mm-dd HH24:mi:ss’) AS time,
to_timestamp(‘2019-01-27 10:30:00’, ‘yyyy-mm-dd HH24:mi:ss’) as timeEnd,
true as isRegion,
‘test region annotation’ as text,
‘cycle’ as tags

I want to create feature request on github but would like to know what people think here.
