Hi everyone
I have a question about manually deleting annotations and how to give the annotation a tag.
-
First of all i am running a grafana cloud instance (version 8.5.2.) on my linux machine.
-
I have created a test-annotation, which is shown as a dashed line inside my panels:
-
Additionally i created a annotation-list with 3 different tags which should provide me with each annotation i manually made:
-
But with this i still cant select the tag of an annotation which i implement inside my panels. Also i cannot find the option to delete the old annotation which is the dashed line.
-
Does anyone have a tip on how to delete the old annotation and also select the tags for future annotations form the annotation list?
Thank you in advance Greetings Grafu
To delete the annotation you can click on the triangle at the bottom of the dashed line. Then you should see the annotation pop up, and click the trash icon to delete it.
I think the docs here are really helpful:
Adding annotations to dashboards: Annotate visualizations | Grafana documentation
Creating an annotation list panel: Annotations | Grafana documentation
In my example, you can see that I added an annotation tag when I created the annotation, so it will be searchable in the annotation query using that tag. I could optionally add the tag name into the match list if I only wanted certain tags to appear in the list.
I chose Panel for link behavior, so when I click on blah blah it will take me to the panel where that annotation exists. NOTE: You have to click apply or save to go back to the dashboard (out of edit mode) before clicking on the annotation description will do anything
Hereβs how it looks if you create a second annotation and the tag already exists, you can create new tags or choose an existing one here:
