Enterprise is free?

The Enterprise Edition is the default and recommended edition. It includes all the features of the OSS Edition, can be used for free and can be upgraded to the full Enterprise feature set, including support for Enterprise plugins.

What does the statement mean that Enterprise Edition can be used for free?

Does that also mean that the OSS Edition will be going away?

Yes, Enterprise is “free” to download and use. But you won’t have enterprise features available unless you have valid enterprise licence.
So Grafana Enterprise without licence is more less Grafana OSS.

IMHO Enterprise is recommended, because then user has easy option (just buy a licence) to use Enterprise features. It makes sense from the business point of view.
