MySQL data collection from locally hosted data

    Grafana cloud and Mac

  • What are you trying to achieve?
    Setup data collection

  • How are you trying to achieve it?
    By configuring through the UI

  • What happened?
    failed to connect to server - please inspect Grafana server log for details

  • What did you expect to happen?
    As the agent has been successfully installed and the connection successfully tested, data collection would be straight forward

  • Can you copy/paste the configuration(s) that you are having problems with?
    Just the standard setup via the UI

  • Did you receive any errors in the Grafana UI or in related logs? If so, please tell us exactly what they were.
    There is no errors in the grafana-agent.err.log file & there is nothing at all in the grafana-agent.log file

  • Did you follow any online instructions? If so, what is the URL?

Where is the mysql server located at in relation to grafana cloud

It’s located locally on my Mac, running on bare metal

How are you referring this local mysql in your connection from cloud grafana? Via a public ip address?

sorry, i’ve worked out my issue. I didn’t want to open my db up to the internet & misunderstood the documentation. I’ve just realised I can install Grafana locally and am now unblocked. thank you for answering my enquiry
