Make dashboard override optional with custom variable = dropdown?

  • What are you trying to achieve?
    I have a dashboard containing a single visualization panel that has a few fields for which I defined an override that sets “Stack series” to “Normal” for them. I’d like the user of this dashboard to easily toggle this “Stack series” override on and off, since it looks great for some time ranges and horrible for others.

  • How are you trying to achieve it?
    I’ve found I can define a custom variable on my dashboard that displays as a dropdown with the 2 values I’ve defined for it.

  • What happened?
    I don’t know how to make use of the variable to make that override only take effect for one of my variable’s values.
