How to move panel from sub-row to row

In the new Grafana 11 dashboard layout, I accidentally set my dashboard layout to tabs. Then I added some rows, and a bunch of panels in each row. Then I noticed all of this is contained by “New tab”. How can I change the dashboard layout to rows? If I try deleting the tab, it deletes all the rows and panels without prompting.

I can change the dashboard layout to rows, and then the tab becomes a row with the same name “New tab”. But all the panels are then contained by “sub-rows” inside the first row. I’m unable to drag these sub-rows or panels outside of the first main row.

So far I am not liking this new layout editor…

hello @llamafilm please share the dashboard screenshot , you can move dashboard panels easliy on same row multiple panel, outside the row panel. currently i am using latest version of grafana.

you can move panel up side of row.

Here’s a short video showing the issue. (I already fixed my dashboard by rebuilding the whole thing, but the point is, there’s no easy way to get out of this scenario.)

In this example, the dashboard layout is tabs, and I have 2 rows inside the tab, with 1 panel each. My goal is to change the layout to rows, and have 2 rows with 1 panel each. In my first attempt, I accidentally dragged the panel onto “nowhere” and it disappeared. On my second attempt, I try dragging the panels out of the ‘sub-row’ to put them on the base dashboard, and it’s impossible.
