Grafana (8) vs. Azure Monitor alerts

I’m looking into whether I want to use the Grafana or Azure Monitor alerting. I’m using Azure Monitor as a data source to visualize the logs and am now thinking about the alerting part. Since Grafana 8 was only recently published with its new alerting, I can’t find too much information about this on the internet either. Has someone been in a similar situation and can maybe talk about their opinions and experience with both options?

I think there are a lot of advantages to using Grafana’s new Unified Alerting. Perhaps the most valuable is that it provides an agnostic alerting platform that you can use across all your datasources, whereas with Azure you’re much more limited.

@kequach,
It boils down to what you’re looking for. Azure Monitor alerts are triggered in Azure itself, and are visible wherever you are accessing your Azure Monitor data (e.g. Azure portal).
HTH!

@kequach , it also depends on which incident management tool you are sending alerts to.
Most of the incident management tools ( PagerDuty, OpsGenie etc) have rich payload tracing/mapping mechanism for Cloud providers( AWS, Azure, GCP) that would make your work more easy for incident management.
