DataSource error failed to connect during backup of database server

  • What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
    Latest version on Windows Server 2022

  • What are you trying to achieve?
    Database gets new data every second of various PLCs.
    Alert is evaluated every minute.
    There is a pending period of 1 minute.
    Alert state if no data = Alerting
    Alert state if exec error or timeout = Error

  • What happened?
    During the backup of the database server at night the grafana error gives us a datasource server not connected. Backup takes roughly 8 minutes and it happens at the last minute of the backup, I’d assume this is when veeam ‘releases’ the server.

I’m looking to extend the time before it evaluates as ‘not connected’ and I’m not sure how.

But that’s not only about evalutation timeout. It can reach DB connection timeout for example. It’s better to configure also retries,… so combine all options to reach that 8min timeout total.

Or you can try to mute that alert, when it’s happening at the same time.

Thanks for showing me the retry parameter. I didn’t find that one at first with googling. I’ll see if the backup tonight triggers the alarm!
