Dashboards logging out

I have the latest versions of Grafana and InfluxDB running on a 4GB Raspberry Pi 4. Everything works fine when I access the Grafana dashboards from Safari on my MacBook. But when I use Chrome or Chromium on MacOS, Ubuntu, Raspbian, or Windows the dashboards log out after a couple of hours. This has been going on for several months and nothing I have tried has fixed it.

Any help would be appreciated?

Please define “latest versions” more specifically.

We don’t know whether you really mean “the version that’s only just been
released in the past week” (since you mention that this problem has been
present for several months, during which time several new versions have been
released - maybe you’ve upgraded and the problem has remained, but maybe you
have’t…) and we don’t know whether you mean "the latest stable version " or
“the latest development version”.

running on a 4GB Raspberry Pi 4. Everything works fine when I access the
Grafana dashboards from Safari on my MacBook.

Which versions, please (both Safari and OSX)?

But when I use Chrome or Chromium

Again, which versions?

on MacOS, Ubuntu, Raspbian, or Windows the dashboards log out after a couple
of hours.

Have you tried any other browser such as Firefox, Edge, or even IE?

This has been going on for several months and nothing I have tried has fixed
it.

Do you know whether it has been going on since you:

a) installed Grafana and started using it at all
b) upgraded Grafana to some more recent version than the one which last worked
without this problem
c) upgraded your MacBook (either OSX or specifically Safari) to some version
which no longer has the problem
d) upgraded your Chrome/ium versions on the other machine to something which
now does have the problem?

Regards,

Antony.

I have the latest versions of Grafana and InfluxDB

Grafana 7.0.1
InfluxDB 1.8.0

Which versions, please (both Safari and OSX)?

Safari 13.1
OSX 10.15.4

But when I use Chrome or Chromium

Chromium 78.0.3904.108 on Raspbian 10 (buster)
Chrome 83.0.4103.61 on OSX
Chrome 81.0.4044.129 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Chrome 83.0.4103.61 on Windows 10 Home Version 1909

Have you tried any other browser such as Firefox, Edge, or even IE?

I’ve tried Firefox ESR on Raspbian and Firefox on Ubuntu with the same behavior.

Do you know whether it has been going on since you:

a) installed Grafana and started using it at all

It worked for a few months with now problems.

b) upgraded Grafana to some more recent version than the one which last worked without this problem

It could have been caused by a Grafana update but I thought it was a Chrome problem since it continued to work on Safari.

c) upgraded your MacBook (either OSX or specifically Safari) to some version which no longer has the problem

The problem has never happened on Safari.

d) upgraded your Chrome/ium versions on the other machine to something which now does have the problem?

I wish I could correlate it to a specific Chrome/Chromium/Grafana/InfluxDB/Rasbian update but it’s been happening for so long that I can’t. I even switched from a Pi 3B to a 4 to make sure it wasn’t a hardware problem.

Let me know how and I’ll upload the Grafana log file that shows the “Successful Logouts”.

Thanks for the help.
