I am having issues trying to create a datasource and wondered if there is character limitation in Grafana for the length of name for an index ? Has anyone had anything similar at all ?

Didn’t encounter any index-length issues yet.
Even thou the documentation says wildcards are supported for the index name, I don’t think it’s possible. (except for the buildin time/date Patterns)
Can you try configuring with a fixed index, if that’s not the case?
Also make sure to select the correct Elasticsearch version.
