ich want to move Grafana to another VM on my proxmox server which hast then only a stand alone installtion (debian buster) of grafana!
How can i migrate with all my dashboards, databases, ini files, users etc. to this new installtion VM.
I looked to the documentation but i do not find anything about the above mentioned backup and restore.
What is the correct way ?
Thank you in advance.
@seqway - The upgrade documentation includes recommendations for backing up your database which would be the same steps you’d want to take before migrating: https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/installation/upgrading/#backup
This user posted a recommended step-by-step on migrations for self-hosters:
Hi, it works.
Install new instance of Grafana
Install used plugin on new server
Stop Grafana service on source and destination server
Copy /var/lib/grafana/grafana.db from old to new server
Regular connection to the grafana url
Dashboard, datasource, users, psw, team,… are the same
Maybe it would be a good idea to use a mariadb to store the configuration, dashboards … instead of a local grafana.db file. You can use a db on a separate host and connect to it from any other host or container with grafana installed.
