Until next time! :christmas_tree:

Hi all,

Posting this question here only because it seems to be one of the places updated lately by people from Grafana. I have been searching this forums for technical questions on Grafana installation/Configuration.

I can see an impressive amount of technical questions on Grafana by users (many older than 2 or 3 years) but during my searches I found almost no (zero) answers from Grafana teams, only a couple of additional questions concerning version of Grafana used, wether this or that page had been checked or this/that dahsboard had been examined for comparison.

Hence my question: Is this a support forum or just a Wailing Wall?
How can you expect people to continue using/deploying Gafana if there isn’t a minimal support somewhere?

Hi @yanicknoblanc,

First of all, thanks for taking to share your concerns about responses on the community forum. I understand why waiting for a response can be frustrating! I do want to provide a bit more context though for an accurate picture.

  1. First, Grafanistas do participate in the forum (over the past few weeks, about 25 of the 189 replies have come from Grafana employees). While we don’t have a team dedicated specifically to monitoring or following up on every forum post, our teams are actively supporting users across several channels (GitHub, Slack, Stack Overflow, forums, etc), but that means our participation is naturally spread out.

  2. Open-source communities like this one are made up of volunteers who contribute on a best-effort basis. (This post may give more context). Additionally, lots of questions are also answered by Grafana Champions who are extremely committed community members and their answers are just as good as those from Grafanistas.

  3. It’s generally easier and quicker to get a helpful reply if you start a new, clearly worded question focusing on a specific issue. Long threads with overlapping issues raised are just more time consuming to answer.

  4. Finally, as I know time is of the essence and sometimes you just need an answer quickly - in such situations consider asking Grot AI: Grot AI helper | Grafana Labs

I hope it all makes sense - and I do hope that your questions posted recently will also get an answer soon with the combined power of Grafana & the community

Kind regards,
Ewa
