- What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
Hello, I upgraded Grafana dashboard from 7.0.3 to 8.3.6, using OSIsoft-PI data source. I copied previous configuration and database files to 8.3.6 instance and multiple queries no longer display string results.
- What are you trying to achieve?
Table panels to display string query results instead of 0.
- How are you trying to achieve it?
I have confirmed the OSIsoft table has the correct data and created overrides (Unit → String) for the fields that are the issue with no luck. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Hello and welcome to the forum, @karinaquevedorodrigu
first I would inspect your panel’s raw request and response. I would see if the strings are sent in the response or not.
Then I would probably file an issue in the repo for that third-party datasource. Looks like the last release was ~18 months ago:
Hi Matt,
Thank you so much for your response. The strings are being captured in the query editor but still no luck displaying in any panels. I will file an issue in the GitHub repo as advised.

Hello everyone,
I have the same need as @karinaquevedorodrigu
Do you have any news ?
Thank you for your help.
Omar
Hi @omarsakka,
If you haven’t already, you need to download and replace the default OSI data source plugin with the version from the GitHub link in the previous response, and restart the service.
Hi @karinaquevedorodrigu
Thank you.
I upgraded the OSI Pi plugin from the GitHub link.
I have a new issue now, no more displayed data :
Have you changed any parameters in Grafana or in the PI Web API ?
Thank you again
@omarsakka
I did not have to make any changes to the PI Web API. I did have to create some Grafana panel overide properties for field certain field as UNIT–>STRING.
- Is this the first time you configure Grafana or was this an upgrade?
- Are you able to access your PI Web API directly?
I see you are missing the datasource, have you reconfigured to the new version of the plugin?
If you haven’t already, you will need to modify the configuration file to include.
