Retain variable in dashboard

Hi All,
i have a dashboard in old grafana instance with some variable and i restore this dashboard in new grafana instance and after restoring the variable are not updated automatically.

can someone please help me to retain the variable value when restoring the dashboard.

So how did you restore the dashboard? I mean did you try to import? or copied some old Json. Make sure you have updated Json for the dashboard you are trying to restore. there is no other way to explicitly call out to restore with or without variables as such.
