How to create a datasource plugin for Trino (earlier called prestoDB) which uses hive connector?

I am currently using Grafana 7+. I would like to create a custom data source Grafana plugin for Trino (which was earlier called Presto DB) using hive connector. Trino uses JDBC driver?. How do I create this data source plugin? Should I need to install the JDBC driver?
