Grafana panel description going out of screen

Hi,

I am using Grafana 9.3.6. I noticed that the panel description/popover text is going out of the screen sometimes.

For the first time after the dashboard is loaded the description is coming below the info icon and everything is visible as shown below.

But after that if we hover over the info icon, the text is coming above the icon and some part of it is going out of the screen as given below.

Is there a way to fix this.

I have this same issue. Any updates on how to fix this? For me it happens on every panel type.

Grafana 9.6.3, rhel9
As already indicated, this happens on any panel type.

Thanks, Based on your steps of reproduction, I was not able to reproduce it on play.grafana.com which is running v9.5.2

Here is the demo panel which I tried to reproduce it but seems to be working fine.

If you can reproduce it on the same panel then please do and capture a screenshot of it.

Also, you mention using Grafana 9.6.3, rhel9. I guess its a typo mistake as there is no such version exists (most recent stable version is 9.5.2 and then pre-releases aka beta)

Oh yes! That was a major typo. It’s 9.3.6.

I just reproduced it on that play.grafana.com link you provided.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Edit the “What’s New” panel to add a description.
  2. Use the following for the description:

This is a description to test that descriptions go off the page after the first time that you click on them. This description is long enough that it needs several lines of text. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

  1. Save the panel edits
  2. Hover over the “i” on the What’s New panel and see that the description is visible
  3. Move mouse away to another panel, for example, hover over and inspect data on the Server Requests panel.
  4. Hover over the “i” of the What’s New panel and see that the description box is now to the right of the screen and portions of it are not visible.

Thanks for this. I see now as this was a bit tricky but reproducible :slight_smile:

I think this do not have a v.big impact but can be improved in terms of usability. I have filed this as an issue:
