Grafana/FluxQL - Tags/Field names in presentation

Hi,

Can someone please point me to some documentation/advice/chicken entrails etc that provides a little more detail on how to use variables and tag information? For Influx <1.8 I have previously used things like $tag_hostname etc to help make visualizations clearer, variables etc - but can’t seem to find any good information on how to do this for FluxQL.

I’m using Grafana 7.2.1 and Influx 2.0.0.-RC so should be reasonably current - doesn’t seem to align particularly well with a lot of the content out there though.
