I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the amazing Canvas feature. It’s been a game-changer for my project. Currently, I’m using it to build a digital shadow of a power plant, and the flexibility and visualization capabilities it offers are simply outstanding.
The digital shadow shows values from all over the plant, allowing users to observe and follow the flow of liquids and see values from different parts.
In my current setup, users find measurements they find interesting and add them to a time table above to see values over time, compare them, and make calculations. I’m working with variables so that users can stay on the same page and choose from a drop-down list to combine values and compare.
While this approach works, the sheer number of values is impacting the user experience, especially since users have to copy or remember the measurement name from the Canvas, then move to the other visualization, post it, and go back to repeat the process.
To enhance this, I have a feature request:
to have the ability to click on metric elements in the Canvas and add them directly to a new visualization, like how it works with variables.
This would streamline the process and make it even more intuitive. It would be incredibly useful for people making digital representations.
