Show v.windowPeriod in Graph title or as static Dashboard 'variable'

  • What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
    Grafana v9.3.2
    Ubuntu 20.04

  • What are you trying to achieve?
When showing per-second values, I tend to use aggregateWindow to limit the number of data points, but then to get a per-second value using derivative one ends up with fractions and the values differ depending on v.windowPeriod due to the aggregation.

What I’d like, is to show the windowPeriod on the Dashboard (or graph), so that it is known what impact the windowPeriod had on the shown graph.

  • How are you trying to achieve it?
I tried using v.windowsPeriod as a variable and in a graph title, but that doesn’t work. And I’ve been unsuccessful in working out how to set a dashboard variable based on v.windowPeriod.

  • What happened?
    n/a

  • What did you expect to happen?
    n/a

  • Can you copy/paste the configuration(s) that you are having problems with?
    n/a

  • Did you receive any errors in the Grafana UI or in related logs? If so, please tell us exactly what they were.
    no

  • Did you follow any online instructions? If so, what is the URL?
    no

Hi, since v 8.4 you can use $__interval for this purpose.

$__interval and $__interval_ms in panel title
