Service map to show external dependencies

Currently If my backend service uses an external dependency it is not shown in the service map .
For example in azure application insights it is shown with smaller circles :
You can also see the number of failed external dependency calls .
Is there something similar in the works for grafana tempo ?

Yup! This is not currently working in Tempo, but it is on the roadmap to extend service graph metrics to include databases and queues using OTel semantic conventions.
