Customizing Tempo Service Graph

Hi,

Is it possible to create a custom node graph like Tempo’s Service Graph. I tried but there is no example online. The Tempo’s service graph can visualize dependencies between services using metrics_generator. However, I want to create an endpoint level dependency between services (endpoints name visible on graph, see following picture), as well as avg response time, requests per second, failed request rate for each endpoint.

“Tempo Service Graph” is panel “Node Graph” panel type - it is panel as others. You just need to have data in the right format for this panel and you can use any datasource with that panel in theory.

Nodegraph Panel with Prometheus as Datasource

There is no specific documentation for prometheus and nodegraph. Just read nodegraph and prepare data in the right format. For example this dashboard uses metrics from Prometheus to visualize data flows with nodegraph panel type.
