Refresh doesnt work

Hi, to the best of my knowledge I am using Grafana v11.3.0 + security-01. I’m trying to get refresh to work. nothing happened after i set it to 1m which i assume is 1 minute and jumped over to the already established url. i tried saving but the product said there is nothing to save. I watched the page during a time when i know the heartbeat of one of our factory machines went from down to up. I expected my stat panel to change from DOWN in red to UP in green. Which it did do when i finally hit the browsers own refresh. I got some advice from a person at garfana that went like this… 1) hit save otherwise it wont stick but grafana said nothing to save, 2) some data sources wont refresh if theuy return cached/statis info but i dont think that is true in my case, 3) grafana pauses ..if browser isnt active but i watched it for some time before minimizing it, 4) for consistency…edit the dashboards JSON directly but to be honest, this isnt even a consistency question yet. I looked at AI and did see something about the server setting perhaps being too high for 1 m to work but before i ask our engineer who stood up grafana to go look, I’d like to be able to tell him what steps to follow.

i just saw something i didnt notice before. i set the refresh to 1 minute. then went into edit and clicked a box that said something like save refresh. watching this again. one of the machines shows currently down. i may force something in the data source to change if i dont see it go/refresh to UP here shortly. One of my peers doesnt believe the grafana product refreshes the browser. I’m thinking thats probably not true. But will believe it when i see it.

i inserted a new sentence into our “news/announcements” table and watched the browser with a stop watch. the dashboard didnt refresh automatically. of course it did when i hit the browser’s refresh button. so i feel like a little direction here would really help. should garfana really refresh automatically when set up correctly? i was actually pretty excited when i clicked and saved that refresh check box i overlooked.

i tried revoking the public url and then resharing thus generating a new url. and tried the same thing all over but the dashboard didnt refresh automatically.

we got this working thanks to one of my peers. he talked me thru this sequence …after i tried everything i could think of…

exit edit
edit
chg x seconds
save dashboard (whatever i was doing never showed this option)
update default refresh
go to live, hit browser refresh,
