I have to monitor several servers with prometheus and Grafana, so I defined a variable for datasources to handle all my servers in one Grafana server, problem is when my datasource is defined as a variable I can not make any Alerts, anybody have solution for it? I can not save the dashboard when I use datasources as a variable.
As my experience, yes, alert can not use with panel using variable, better build specific dashboard into the Alert Folder and start build the alert because alerts didn’t know what variable that you will trigger the conditions.
