What are you trying to achieve? I am looking for the best practice for a search box to search for a customer from a datasource of over 100k customers. It would be great to have autocomplete or type ahead to ease with the search.

How are you trying to achieve it? From what I understand, a dropdown box has typeahead, but not an input box. If there is a panel beneath the search box with search results, could it update with search results as the user types in the text box?
