Migration Error While Upgrading Grafana and MariaDB

Hello Grafana community,

I’ve encountered an issue during the migration process from Grafana 6.2.0 to 10.1.0, using MariaDB 10.1.44. While performing the migration, the following error messages appeared in the logs:

Migration execution: “Add epoch_end column”
The migration execution failed with the following error: “Error 1296 (HY000): Received error 64 ‘Temp file write failure’ from InnoDB.”
The execution further failed with this error message: “Error 1296 (HY000): Received error 64 ‘Temp file write failure’ from InnoDB” for the SQL statement: “alter table annotation ADD COLUMN epoch_end BIGINT(20) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0.”

I’m in need of an explanation for this error and guidance on resolving it. It’s worth noting that, despite these errors, we do have ample available disk space, as indicated by the following filesystem information:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/vg–data-lvol0 296G 20G 261G 8% /var/lib/data

I suggest you upgrade step by step, from 6.x to 7.x then 7.x to 8,x accordingly until 9.x to 10.1.0.
Too many differences between 6 to 10 and it will break many things.
