Hello everyone,

I’m writing this post regarding the Grafana Kafka Data Source plugin (which you can find the repository here: https://github.com/hoptical/grafana-kafka-datasource).

I am submitting a proposal for GrafanaCON 2026 about the plugin’s development journey, how it enables real-time Kafka visualization, and the lessons learned in open-source development. I would love to enrich the talk by including a real-world, large-scale usage perspective.
