Default datasource on a per-dashboard basis?

Is there any way to set the default datasource for a dashboard to be a template variable? I already have a datasource template variable, but it’s tedious to set each graph to use that variable.

Unrelatedly: Is there a way to set the default time zone for a whole Grafana instance to be UTC? I work with a distributed team, and we never want any of our graphs to display in browser local time because it makes discussion more confusing.

  1. You can sadly not specify a data source template variable to be the default data source

  2. You can change default timezone to be UTC in profile or organization preferences.
