Dashboard variable defined by singlestat output

Forgive me if this is something basic I have overlooked:

I have a singlestat panel dynamically retrieving our selected host’s IP address as text. I would like to dynamically have drilldown/detail link follow to http://ipaddress.com or be able to assign the IP address to a variable on the dashboard page.

Is this possible, and if so then how?

Zabbix 3.2.4
Mysql db

I saw this old post and was wondering if this is now possible. I am trying to pass the value of the singlestat variable into the panel link but am not sure what the variable name is.
