Announcement: Automated triaging for issues in the grafana/grafana repository

Hello everyone,

We’re excited to announce that we’ve just introduced an automatic triaging (auto-triager) tool in the Grafana repository.

What does this mean?

  • New issues created by community members in our GitHub repository will now be automatically analyzed and labeled using a bot powered by an LLM.
  • Each label corresponds to a specific team within Grafana, ensuring your issue is quickly routed to the right team’s project board.
  • The goal is to reduce the time it takes for your issues to be reviewed by a team.

What should you expect?

  • Faster processing of your issues, with almost immediate labeling and assignment to the relevant team. The tool is still being improved, so if your issue is miscategorized, please let us know, and we’ll make adjustments.

I have tried to install a demo dashboard only to get ‘a not found’ reply.

How does the auto-triager tool determine the appropriate team label for an issue, and what steps are taken if the issue is mislabeled?

We use a large language model with some contextual information

Internally members of the wrongly-assigned team will re-assign it to the correct one and provide feedback about the bot to the creators.
