Should I use grafana + graphite or only grafana

grafana newbie here.

We intend to collect some monitoring values from various servers in our network and want to create online displays. Is it advisable to use grafana as a frontend to graphite or is it also possible/advisable to use only grafana? What is the most common approach?

Grafana does not include it’s own data source (tsdb), so you need something like Graphite. I really recommend installing Graphite, it’s the best TSDB and has really amazing query editor in Grafana.
