I picked up the idea that you could map an email address used in OAuth2 to a specific Existing Grafana user (account). It was from the AWS Cognito service which advertises: “configure API Gateway to pass through the user’s ID and group membership to your application”.
This led us to the idea that we could map a users specific Gmail (for example) to an existing Grafana user account. Please do nto confuse this sue case with role or org mapping that we see confirmed as implemented in Grafana.
Due to simplicity we opted for Google OAuth2 in place of Cognito.
On closer examination, it seems that there is no way with actually any authentications service to map the users’ auth email to an internal Grafana user account.
(Ideally we want user accounts in Grafana following another schema and in not in email form).
Is that true, that this type of mapping is not possible with Grafana? Or is there a way?
