how to restrict the number of iterations? I am bit confused about iterations and requests per second(rate).

Without more context, I would recommend you follow some steps before working on restricting iterations or rates. Taking a step back sometimes help.
- What type of test do you want to run? Understanding the Different Types of Load Tests: Goals and Recommendations. This can help you choose the executor.
- Review Scenarios.
- If you want to load test an API endpoint (or several), and you have fixed requests per second or rate, you can pick a Constant arrival rate executor, where you can define just that: the number of requests per time unit.
- If you want to run a number of iterations, have a look at https://k6.io/docs/using-k6/scenarios/executors/shared-iterations/ or Per VU iterations.
