Elements on Canvas not resizing properly

  • What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
    Grafana v9.3.6 ; Raspbian

  • What are you trying to achieve?
The ability to merge elements with photo so you can resize both at the same time

  • What happened?
When i place elements on photo in canvas, when i try to resize the panel in dashboard all text fields stay in same place while photo gets smaller… It doesnt display correctly on mobile device

  • What did you expect to happen?
I want to have a photo of a house with corresponding measurements in specific places so i can freely resize photo and i can view it from my mobile device/computers etc.

photo2: missplaced elements

Hi @skvarcmatevz,

Thanks for opening this post.

Can you please try to reproduce this same issue (with minimum steps as possible) on https://play.grafana.org/ and then share the dashboard link so that we can view it?

Thanks

Hi everyone, I’m a new user of the forum, I’m writing in this topic (I know it’s almost 1 year ago) because I have the same problem. Can anyone help me or direct me to the solution?
Thank you

Hi,

I have had the same issue my self. The only way I have been able to fix this is to select Image type Fill for the background image, and then for the element layout constraint select scale for both axes.

The drawback by using fill is that it does not keep the ratio of the image, would be nice if it was possible to “lock” the elements to all the different background image sizes

When I have used the approach that I described over I have managed to keep the values locked on the image, but the image quality has been bad due to wrong ratio and scaling. I now realized that I was using PNG, and that was the reason for the poor image “quality”.

So I changed to svg, and got perfect image quality, but now the values are no longer locked to their position on the image.

Does anyone have a solution for this issue, or is this a bug or missing feature in the canvas?

Ronny, thanks for the reply. Can anyone help us?

Hi any update or solution on this topic?
