recently I added a new type of DataSource i.e. CloudWatch. My concern is that CloudWatch produces tons of events/metrics and if Grafana persist them somewhere it may blow up my storage. So my question is: does Grafana store CloudWatch events anywhere on a disk? And if so how to configure it? Thank you.

Grafana does not store any metrics itself. If you have alerts configured for your cloudwatch metrics a log of those alerts will be saved with the system.
