Create Alert Notifications via API

I see the api definition here for alerting and alert channels in these pages:

It seems there is no way to create an alert via API. Is that correct, or am I missing something? It would be great if I could create an alert via API.

I also can’t figure out which API to send mail.
Something like:

I’m not sure what you’re asking about. Title refers to alert notification, but description refers to creating alerts. Alert rules is currently contained in and extracted from dashboards so you have to use the dashboard api.

Not sure what you’re trying to do - Looks like you’re trying to send email thru the API which is not supported. Please provide more details.
