To remove old log chunks and indexes only option s3 lifecycle policies?

Hi,
We are storing log stream from promtail to s3 backend and we see it get stored in fake/ folder data in chunks and index/ folder for storing indexes.
What would be the best approach to delete older logs and indexes stored in s3.
Will the compactor takes care of index compacting and deleting if we enable it ?

Yes, use compactor for deleting old logs.

Hi @tonyswumac
Thanks for the reply , let me check the same
Meanwhile is there a way to check all promtail scrape config agents in UI to see to track and monitor as in similar to prometheus UI?

Promtail agent does have a /metrics endpoint that you can scrape from. I haven’t personally tried it.
