I’ve been a professional software engineer for well over two decades, at all levels from embedded coding in C and ARM assembler, through Linux kernel modules, up to systems and applications programming. I’ve done a fair bit of work on network stacks over the years, but currently I’m working for a large financial services firm writing code where performance is important, but less important than resilience, and monitoring and alerts are critical to respond to any issues promptly.
