# X-Axis time format

Hello,

- What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?  
v9.3.6

- **What** are you trying to achieve?  
I want to display short date on chart X-Axis

- **How** are you trying to achieve it?  
I don’t know

- What happened?  
Nothing ☹

- What did you **expect** to happen?  
A short date formatting according to DD/MM and not MM/DD

How to format a date into the X-Axis ?

What is your DataSource e.g. Prometheus, InfluxDB, MySQL etc?

You can use the Override function to change the Time format.

I attached a screencast (open it in a new window as will be easier to zoom in and view more clearly)

This only changes the tooltip in status history, for instance. It doesn’t change the x-axis.
