Special characters in text bash alert mail will be shown wrong

I’m using Grafana Unified Alerting and work with a customized template for a date format.

The Go template is this:

Event Time: {{ .StartsAt }}

The text mail which arrives will be shown like this in e. g. Outlook

The + sign seems to be encoded like it would need to be for a HTML mail.

This also happens if I have e. g. a single quote in the alert description.
They will also show as HTML formatted tags.

I’m using Grafana 10.4.2

Any help appreciated
