Session count discrepancy between IBM WAS and Prometheus

  • What are you trying to achieve?

  • creating dashboard in grafana thru prometheus values retrieved from IBM WebSphere Application PMI metrics

  • How are you trying to achieve it?
    Got the PMI metrics successfully from IBM WAS and able to see the metrics values in prometheus.

  • What happened?

  • High session count values displayed in Prometheus always, For example) The was_session_live_sessions values from IBM WAS is 3, but it shows as 7 in prometheus

  • What did you expect to happen?
    The was_session_live_sessions should match according to the PMI metrics from IBM WAS.

  • Can you copy/paste the configuration(s) that you are having problems with?

  • Did you receive any errors in the Grafana UI or in related logs? If so, please tell us exactly what they were.

  • no errors, but only the wrong session values not accordance with the real user log in session counts during a specific time when logged into the application.
