- What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
_Grafana v8.0.4_

- **What** are you trying to achieve?
_Alerting based on MSSQL data_

- **How** are you trying to achieve it?
_Same way as in version v7.0.3_

- What happened?
_Upgraded Grafana from version v7.0.3 to v.8.0.4._
_After the upgrade our MSSQL based alerts returns the following exception if no data returned from SQL server:_
_error:“request handler failed to convert dataframe “results” to plugins.DataTimeSeriesSlice: input frame is not recognized as a time series”_

- What did you **expect** to happen?
_Our existing panels should work in the same way as before. If no data returned from SQL it should show that._

- Can you copy/paste the configuration(s) that you are having problems with?
_This is the Query:_

```auto
SELECT $__timeGroup(transactionDate, '10m', 0) as time, COUNT(*) as VALUE
		  FROM xxxx.dbo.xxxxx A
		  WHERE $__timeFilter(transactionDate)
      AND result <> 0
GROUP BY $__timeGroup(transactionDate, '10m')
ORDER BY time asc
```

_And this is the alert rule:_

- Did you receive any errors in the Grafana UI or in related logs? If so, please tell us **exactly** what they were.
_in the UI\Alert Rules: Execution Error: request handler failed to convert dataframe “results” to plugins.DataTimeSeriesSlice: input frame is not recognized as a time series_

I would appreciate any help.
Thanks a lot!
