Loki - Part of kubernetes cluster or standalone server

Hi Guys,

What is the recommended ways to have Loki. Whether it should be part of kubernetes cluster or should be running as standalone server outside cluster.

If its part of cluster, if cluster is not reachable for some reason, how we could collect/access the logs .
