Line rendering in 11.4.0 with more optical steps than in 5.3.2

Hello all,

After years, I’d like to update my Grafana setup from 5.3.2 to the actual 11.4.0. Therefore I recognized that the lines in the actual 11.4.0 look more “steppy” than in 5.3.2.

direct comparison during the timeframe between 08:00 and 10:00 between 5.3.2 (left) and 11.4.0 (right):

As I wasn’t able to change this via the settings (e.g. line interpolation) I had a deeper look into the rendered result. It seems as if the rendering in 11.4.0 is less complex than in 5.3.2.

The graph in 5.3.2 has a lot of additional pixels to achieve a more blurred and optical smoother result whereas 11.4.0 only adds two additional pixels.

11.4.0

I couldn’t find an answer if there was a intentional change of the rendering algorithm during the last years and with switching from the Graph Panel to the Time Series Panel. Does anybody know something about that or has an idea how to achieve the optical smoother rendering again?

Additional insight:
When zooming heavily in, the graph isn’t “steppy” in 11.4.0 as well as then there are much more than only two additional pixels:
