# How to export dashboard via API for external use?

Hi!

When sharing a dashboard, you can choose to export it for sharing externally:

**Is it possible to get the exact same JSON over the API?**

At the moment I use `https://<my.grafana.instance>/api/dashboards/uid/<dashboard-uid>`, but this contains all the instance-specific configurations such as data sources.
