What are your intentions for adding an icon to the sidebar? I believe that app plugins like the Redis App plugin add a sidebar icon.
If you are seeking to edit the Grafana source code directly, then you should be mindful of Grafana’s license, which changed from Apache 2.0 to AGPL3, from version 7.5.x to 8.
