Highlighting lost when using grafana loki 10 with variables

My dashboard uses a variable from a text field that is then used in the Logs panel to filter results and when the search variable is used I lose hightlighting of the keyword. But if I just manually use a word (no variable) then the highlighting comes back.

I have the same issue; would like to get the highlighting as well when using a search variable.
Iā€™m using Grafana 10.2.3
