Graph displays no data on smaller screen

Hi all, I have a dashboard with a graph that does not display data when I view it with my 13" laptop screen. If I view it with a larger monitor the graph displays fine. I have figured out that this is caused by the max data points query option. On the smaller screen, max data points is set to ~900, and on the larger screen it is ~1400.

While on the smaller screen, if I manually update the max data points to be 1400, the graph will refresh and display correctly. Why is this happening? Why doesn’t the auto max data points work?

I have also found that if I decrease the time range to be 1 hour (previously was 7 days) the graph also displays correctly. Not sure if this is related or not though. Thanks for any help!

Can you specify the version you are using, it maybe a bug that was fixed.

Hi,

I see you are using old version, i suggest you either do the following :

  • Upgrade to a more recent version (will include bug and security fixes)
  • If you have any restrictions on using this specific version, i suggest you have a look a the grafana github page and look into issues (you might find workaround or discussion around this issue, i’ve found some using keyword « small display », also check open and closed issues.
