Exploring “Letter Boxed”Style Thinking for Creative Grafana Dashboards

Hi everyone,

I’m new to building dashboards in Grafana and have been exploring more creative ways to visualize data.

Recently, I was inspired by word puzzles like Letter Boxed (where you connect letters under specific constraints to form words). It made me think about whether similar “rule-based thinking” could be applied inside dashboards.

For example:

  • Designing visualizations where metrics follow specific “paths” or constraints
  • Reducing steps between related data points, similar to solving a puzzle
  • Or mapping dependencies in a way that feels like solving logical sequences

Since Grafana is already powerful for observability and correlation analysis, I’m curious if anyone has experimented with more unconventional or puzzle-like dashboard designs.

Would love to hear:

  • Any creative or non-standard dashboard ideas you’ve tried
  • Plugins or panels that support more abstract visualizations
  • Or even general thoughts on applying constraint-based thinking to data exploration

Looking forward to your ideas :+1:

hello @hellencharless54 you can explore play.grafana, grafana dashboards examples for better idea.

VolkovLabs’ “Business Text” would be the plugin to use for this.

They had separate playground / sandbox public website: https://echarts.volkovlabs.io/ full of good samples…

The site has now been taken down so all the goodness are gone… :frowning:
